The Ritual

Everyone finds their own rhythm, but the classic Finnish cycle goes like this:

1. Heat. Ten to fifteen minutes in the cedar barrel sauna. Choose dry heat or add steam.
2. Rinse. Step out to the outdoor rain shower beneath the canopy. Run it cool for a bracing rinse or warm for comfort, since it's plumbed for both.
3. Rest. Wrap up in your robe in the quiet clearing and let the forest do the talking.

Repeat two or three times, and drink more water than you think you need.

Between Rounds

Just across the lane, 200+ acres of private forest hold miles of walking trails that follow the creek systems through the pines. Walk slowly. In early spring the creek banks burst with wild azaleas, and any time of year it's the kind of quiet you can actually hear.

How the Weekend Goes

Arrive to a dirty soda bar stocked with syrups and mix your signature drink. Float in the cowboy pool as the sun drops behind the oaks, then pull down the 120-inch screen and start the movie. You can watch from the water. Before bed, shower under fairy lights and twin rain heads. In the morning it's coffee in bed, a stroll to the creek trails across the lane, and absolutely no agenda.
